sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root

linux · bash · Intermediate

Recursively deletes every file on the system as root. The --no-preserve-root flag exists only to defeat the safety check that normally refuses this exact command, which means it was typed deliberately.

Signals to notice

  • Recursive force delete rooted at /
  • --no-preserve-root disables the built-in guard
  • Runs as root, so no permission stops it

Think you can spot these under time pressure?
