Dangerous
chown -R nobody:nogroup /homelinux · bash · Intermediate
Reassigns ownership of every user's home directory to the unprivileged nobody account. Users lose control of their own files, SSH refuses keys whose ownership looks wrong, and the original ownership is not recorded anywhere.
Signals to notice
- Recursive ownership change across all users
- Breaks SSH key permission checks
- Original ownership is unrecoverable
