kill -HUP $(cat /var/run/nginx.pid)linux · bash · Nightmare
Sends a hangup signal to nginx, which it interprets as a request to reload configuration without dropping connections. Both the alarming word kill and the command substitution are misleading here: HUP is a graceful reload, and the substitution reads a pid file the service itself wrote.
